Artist's Description
Nubble is the first lighthouse going north up the coast of Maine. It is perched on its own island about 100 yards off Cape Naddick point, near the entrance to the York River. The lighthouse height is 41 feet on top of the rocky island making the light 88 feet above sea level. There is an illusion of a giant sea turtle formed by the rocks under certain lighting and shadows of the day.
